Code of Conduct for EvoWorm 2026
The mission of EvoWorm 2026 is to foster community and the exchange of ideas. Central to this mission is a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for all our participants. This Code of Conduct accordingly provides standards and guidelines for acceptable behavior at the conference.
All EvoWorm 2026 participants are expected to follow this Code of Conduct. It applies during all portions of the conference, including but not limited to oral presentation sessions, poster sessions, and conference-sponsored meals, and in all venues associated with the conference, including but not limited to academic buildings and residential halls. This Code of Conduct extends to virtual communications related to the conference, including but not limited to those on Zoom, Slack, and social media.
Expected Behavior
- Treat others with kindness and respect
- Critique ideas rather than individuals
- Use discretion. What constitutes acceptable behavior varies among individuals
- Be open to others’ ideas and opinions, even if you do not share them
- Look out for others. If you sense a participant is in danger or distress, consider intervening in a manner that feels safe to you, and/or alert a conference organiser.
Unacceptable behavior
Any form of:
- Harassment – the use of words or actions that are unwelcome, demeaning, or personally offensive
- Intimidation – humiliating, threatening, bullying, or frightening someone
- Discrimination – prejudicial treatment of someone based on their identity
Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:
- Verbal or physical abuse,
- Unwelcome and/or offensive comments
- Words or actions that exclude others based on, for example, age, gender identity, or national origin
- Unwelcome and/or uninvited attention or contact, including sexual attention
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Stalking
- Sustained disruption of talks
- Photographing or reproducing slides of oral presentations or posters without permission
- Recording of presentations without permission
